3 Small Changes To Help Your Energy Right Now

Updated: Jun 18, 2020

It’s no surprise that a lot of people’s mental health and drive for personal development went to the back burner in the past few weeks.

Now don’t get me wrong, our focus was being driven elsewhere and for that I am GRATEFUL!

It is about damn time that we all (myself included) ask some hard and uncomfortable questions as well as learn things that, unfortunately, some of us were not fully aware of before.

And, we need to talk about mental health during a revolution.

Picture this: if you are a vase and you are half full of water. You notice others around you are in need of water, so you try to pour your water onto the others around you. You are the vase will swing around and eventually empty out, or worse, shatter.

But if water is being poured into the vase and continues pouring, what eventually happens?

It overflows.

You are a vase needing water right now.

So let's talk about some small changes that you can make to fill up your vase AND overflow with energy and passion in this movement.

If you burnout, if you get overwhelmed and shut down, how much energy do you have? Very little, right? About enough to only keep yourself afloat.

Here are some small changes that you can do everyday that have a huge impact on your energy.

Put Your Phone Down

There is a reason this is #1. Scroll fatigue is a THING, people! Put your phone down and take a walk, make a healthy snack, watch an inspirational video or listen to a podcast. Or heck, take ACTION on some things that you saw while you were scrolling. Places to call or email, podcasts to listen to, etc.

Get Connected to The Present

One of the major reasons for overwhelm or anxiety is because your brain is living in fear of the future. When you get connected to the present moment, your heart rate slows down, and you find more peace and serenity. I recorded a meditation on peace and gratitude just for you during this revolutionary time, get it here!

Get Connected to Your Mission

Write down why this revolution is important to you? What kind of world do you envision being created from this movement? Who will be positively impacted? When you get connected to your purpose- you will find energetic persistence.

And Last But Not Least:

You Become What You Consume!

If you are feeling burnout or overwhelmed, listen to something that is inspiring to you. There are so many podcasts and videos out there that are talking about Black Lives Matter in an inspirational way. Taking a break from the hard and heavy topics of this time doesn't mean you don’t care or feel any sympathy towards the Black Community. Consume something inspirational and allow that energy to fuel you more in this movement.

In addition to all the tips above, I also want to attach an awesome resource that my boyfriend's company made for their white allies: it is a 30 day allyship challenge.

I believe this is a great resource and I believe being a good ally shouldn't be limited to 30 days.

So please know that this is an actionable resource for you to have as you continue to show up and be a good ally.

This resource is exceptional because immersing yourself in anything for 30 days creates MASSIVE change (this boils back to “you become what you consume”). If you immerse yourself in anything for a long period of time, it changes your brain.

👉Find the 30 Day Allyship Challenge HERE. And please feel free to share this with anyone in your life.

I am not going to claim to be an expert on anti-racism. I am learning. I am listening. I am looking at my day to day life and the different aspects of my business and choosing to make a difference. I am embracing the fact that I am going to mess up and in learning to be an imperfect ally, I have found so much passion and clarity.

I love you all and I hope you are staying passionate and purposeful during this time!

Talk to you soon,
